The Law Firm of Baillie Hall & Hershman P.C. Wins Connecticut Quality Improvement Award
-Clients input real estate closing data online through web-based ordering system
-Innovation has led to a 50% increase in data accuracy
Cheshire, Conn. July 25, 2007
The Cheshire law firm of Baillie Hall & Hershman P.C., Connecticut's largest supplier of real estate closing services to the employee relocation industry, won a 2007 Connecticut Quality Improvement Award (CQIA) for its use of an online ordering system that allows real estate clients to input their closing data online. The standardization of data entry has increased information accuracy by 50%.
Since the system's implementation in late 2006, clients input their data one time via the firm's website, www.bhhlegal.com, and the firm's databases are automatically populated so that all necessary documents can be generated without re-entering the data two and three times. This reduces the possibility of human error and ensures greater accuracy of information. Additionally, the technology drives clients to the Baillie Hall & Hershman website, which is a useful real estate resource, as well as an integral component of the firm's communications platform. Clients who visit the website gain a comprehensive understanding of what the firm offers.
"The initiation process time involving title search and file opening has been reduced by 25%, which is significant for our clients who need to move quickly once they've made a real estate decision. The back and forth editing process has been virtually eliminated," said Partner Don Baillie. "We've seen an impressive 10% increase in business overall."
Baillie Hall & Hershman P.C. won a silver entry level Connecticut Quality Improvement Partnership's CQIA Innovation Prize. Applicants are required to provide a detailed assessment of their innovation including 1. The problem solved or opportunity leveraged; 2. A detailed description of the innovation; and 3. A numerical documentation of how the innovation has benefited the organization.
The CQIA Innovation Prize recognizes accomplishments during the first stages of the quality journey for all Connecticut-located organizations. It is meant to stimulate interest in organizations to implement quality while fostering recognition of innovative improvements. Innovation is defined by the CQIA Innovation Prize as a new service, process or product that is new to Connecticut in the last five years. All 102 CQIA Innovation Prizes were ranked by 15 Baldrige trained CQIA examiners.
